Borough of Point Pleasant – Anyone wishing to enjoy fishing,
kayaking or other recreational water activities now has a revitalized area to enjoy – thanks to the efforts of Mayor Robert A. Sabosik and Borough Council Members.
The Governing Body budgeted capital money last year for the Dorsett Dock Improvement Project, which was ultimately awarded to Albert Marine Construction, Inc. through the bidding process. In the middle of October 2015, this long awaited facelift started and now the work to one of the Borough’s most popular recreational sites has reached completion.
According to Mayor Sabosik, “The Dorsett Dock Bulkhead had been in disrepair for a number of years after Superstorm Sandy. What was once a popular fishing and crabbing site became unsafe and a hazard.”
Council President Joe Furmato, who also chairs the Recreation Committee, added, “It was important to get this area back in shape for our residents to enjoy and I couldn’t be happier with the way it came out. Our goal was to make this area safe and enjoyable for our residents and we’ve done that.”
Councilman William Borowsky, who chairs the Public Works Committee, explained, “A new vinyl bulkhead replaced the old wooden one and the surface area was restored with new stones and paving. Also on the left at the access area to the water, we put in a new ramp where kayaks and canoes can be launched.”
Councilman Michael Thulen Jr. added further emphasis, “We are a community where a large number of recreational activities take place by the water and because of that, this project has been a long time coming. We were happy to get it done for the people of Point Pleasant.”
