This Tuesday, March 15, the Borough of Point Pleasant will host a Flood Insurance Awareness Seminar for residents from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Courtroom at Borough Hall, 2233 Bridge Avenue. This information session is for all residents of our surrounding communities, not just residents of the Borough of Point Pleasant.
According to Timothy Skinner, our Construction Official and Floodplain Manager, representatives from FEMA, the NJ DEP and an insurance company representative will be on hand to answer questions residents have regarding flood insurance.
Both general and specific questions will be answered. According to Mr. Skinner, residents are encouraged to bring their elevation certificates and a copy of their current flood insurance declaration pages to discuss specific information about their property.
Residents can hope to gain an understanding of how the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) works and ways to save money on their flood insurance premiums.
As a Community Rating System (CRS) Community, the Borough of Point Pleasant wants to make sure all of our citizens have as many avenues as possible to become better educated on the intricacies of these programs.
