Nightly Detours Expected for Work to Route 88 Bridge – Week of January 25

FROM THE POINT PLEASANT POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Abbe & Svoboda have been contracted by the Army Corps of Engineers to maintain the steel that lines the banks of the Point Pleasant Canal.
The start of the project will be sometime during the week of January 25, 2016. During this process it will become necessary to close the Route 88 bridge over the Point Pleasant canal in Point Pleasant Borough. The state requires that closures be done at night. The company anticipates a minimum of 5 nightly closures. The work is subject to weather and tides so there is no set schedule at this point. Traffic over the Route 88 bridge will be detoured to the Route 13 span. Sign boards will be deployed on each side of the 88 bridge advising motorists of the closures and detours to follow.
Nightly closures will occur between 10 p.m. and 5 am.
The following detours will be in place during the closures:
•Route 88 eastbound motorists will take Beaver Dam Road (CR 630) to Bridge Avenue east to Bay Avenue to Route 88 eastbound.
•Route 88 westbound motorists will take Bay Avenue to Bridge Avenue west to Beaver Dam Road to Route 88 westbound.
