Dear Residents,

For the last two hours, the Borough has been experiencing sporadic power outages and just recently these have become more widespread.  After talking with JCP&L representatives, the most recent information we have as of 9:30PM this evening is that JCP&L had to open two breakers at their distribution control center that feeds approximately 40% of Point Pleasant Borough.  One of those two breakers is back in operation.  This according to them was done in response to what appears to be a voltage irregularity that was causing damage to equipment in the field including but not limited to transformers.  They have called in substation line crews to identify and resolve the issue.

JCP&L has informed us that this problem should be resolved relatively soon, but as the evening progresses, residents whose power does not come back on are encouraged to report existing outages and any other issues to JCP&L in the following ways:

  • Online at www.JCP-l.com
  • Use the JCP&L smartphone app (iPhone & Android)
  • Via the “Report an Outage” tab on the JCP&L Facebook Page
  • Call 888-LIGHTSS (888-544-4877)

Thank you all for your patience as JCP&L works to resolve the issue.  I along with members of the Borough Council will be in contact with JCP&L throughout the evening until they resolve this issue with their equipment.

Regards,

Mayor Robert A. Sabosik
