Point Pleasant Mayor Robert A. Sabosik and Council members have stepped up their public presence in visible ways this year from evening hours with the Mayor to an array of technology-based platforms.

“Enhancing our online presence had been a priority for some time and this year the opportunity presented itself,” Mayor Sabosik said recently. “Earlier this year, we launched a new website, which is one piece of our effort to more effectively communicate Borough happenings with our residents.”

The website, www.ptboro.com, has many features that are beneficial to residents and business owners. Public notices, meeting agendas and minutes, forms, links to area groups and organizations, as well as recreational programs and special event listings for residents of all ages.

In addition to the website, the Borough has rejuvenated social media efforts throughout year. The result? Facebook and Twitter posts, likes and views are at all-time highs. Councilman Michael Thulen Jr. said he believes expanding communication using various social media platforms will help to serve a larger portion of the Borough population.

“Many of our residents get the majority of their information online,” Councilman Thulen Jr. said this week. “Along with traditional mediums, we wanted to make sure we could reach all our citizens, so social media was a natural addition.”

The latest addition to the Borough’s communication arsenal is a newly created newsletter called Getting to the Point.

“A newsletter in addition to our social media and web presence is vital for those in our senior community who might not have computer or Internet access,” Council President Toni DePaola said this week. “The newsletter will be mailed, emailed and posted on our website for all our residents.”

The Borough made it the official newsletter of the Borough at the meeting this week by Resolution, Mayor Sabosik said Wednesday. “Our goal is to have the first edition out later this month and continue to inform our residents with the newsletter on a regular basis.”

The Mayor said residents should expect additional forms of communication to develop as his administration continues to take shape.website screenshot
