The Department of Public Works is in the process of changing out all water meters to radio read meters.
They are currently working on the east side of town; east of Arnold Avenue and north of Ocean Road. They have two crews of men working in that area. The men have Borough of Point Pleasant identification, and are driving small pickup trucks identified as Borough vehicles.
They are knocking on doors and, where the residents are home, letting them know what they need to do in order to change out the meters. When a resident is not home, if they have access to the crawl space where most meters are located, they are going ahead and changing out the meter and leaving a blue note to advise the resident of the change.
If they do not have access to the meter, they are leaving a note advising the resident to call the Department of Public Works @ 732-892-1287 to set up an appointment to change out the meter.
The Borough apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. Once the changes are made, DPW workers will be able to read meters more efficiently, from vehicles as they drive down the street from a clearly marked Water Department Vehicle.
