The hard work and dedication of the employees in several Point Pleasant departments was recently recognized with “Reader’s Choice 2015” awards from The Asbury Park Press.
Point Pleasant Police Department and Fire Department Station 75 members were named “Best of the Best,” while Point Pleasant’s Riverfront Park was also donned with the same accolade – thanks in large part to the maintenance work performed daily by members of the Department of Public Works.
“This administration has been working hard to prioritize teamwork,” Mayor Robert A. Sabosik said this week of the efforts since the beginning of the year. “We have been successful in increasing communication not only between departments, but also with the public, to better understand what needs exist and to more efficiently address them for our citizens.”
Council President Toni DePaola, who is the chair of the public safety committee, said she and all members of the governing body felt honored when notified of the accomplishments.
“We couldn’t be prouder of our Police and Fire Department members,” Council President DePaola said this week. “For them to be named ‘Best of the Best’ this year just reinforces what we’ve always felt about them – they are truly the best of the best every day, every year.”
Similarly, Councilman William Borowsky, chair of the public works and water/sewer committee, said the beauty of Riverfront Park is enhanced thanks to the efforts of the Public Works employees, who keep the park pristine.
“Increased organization and scheduling techniques played a big role in improving an already high performing department,” Councilman Borowsky said of the Department of Public Works. “One of our next steps is to create a ‘boundless’ play area for children with special needs.”
Mayor Sabosik said he and Council are looking to the future. “We will not rest on our laurels, we have more to accomplish for the good of our citizens and the future of Point Pleasant.”
In a show of appreciation on behalf of the Borough, Mayor Sabosik declared the following days in honor of the departments: October 23, 2015 – Fire Department Station 75; October 30, 2015 – Point Pleasant Police Department and November 6, 2015 – Department of Public Works.
