Borough of Point Pleasant – Out of 565 municipalities in the State of New Jersey, the Borough of Point Pleasant has been ranked #27 in the list of safest places in the State according to SafeWise, an online safety resource that advocates for consumers and helps individuals, families and communities make informed decisions.

To compile this list, SafeWise reviews a number of reports including police reports, FBI crime report statistics and population data.  Their evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes in each city factored in with the number of property crimes according to SafeWise.

According to Mayor Sabosik, “We’ve ranked as one of the safest on a number of lists in the last year, and this particular ranking further goes to confirm what we already know, that Point Pleasant Borough is a wonderful community to live, work, play and shop.  We’ve worked hard at Borough Hall in making our community a safe place to be and to make sure our Police Department has the proper resources to keep the peace and ensure our safety.”

Councilwoman Antoinette DePaola echoed those sentiments and further thanked the men and women of the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department.  “We have exceptional officers, and for the first time ever, two new K-9 Officers.  The men and women in our Police Department love our community I thank them for everything they do.”

Council President Bill Borowsky reminded everyone at a recent Council meeting that in addition to this ranking thanks to the hard work of Chief Larsen and his officers, the Borough had been previously voted as the Best Place to Raise a Family in Ocean County by NJ Family Magazine last year.  “What more can I say, I love this town.  The commitment of our Police Department, the commitment of Borough Hall in improving the Borough physically with our roads, parks and beaches, our outreach to keep citizens aware of what’s happening in the Borough, it’s what makes us a community.  There’s no place I’d rather live than right here.”

Borough Administrator Frank Pannucci Jr. thanked the commitment of the Mayor and Council for providing the funding and resources every year to make this a possibility.  “This Mayor and Council are proactive and forward thinking.  In every area, they’ve made and continue to make significant improvements that enhance our local way of life here.  They’ve given the Borough, especially the Police, not just the tools but the support to accomplish their mission in keeping our town safe.”
