040A long awaited face-lift has started at one of the Borough’s most popular recreational sites – Dorsett Dock. Mayor Robert A. Sabosik, Council President Antoinette DePaola, Councilman Bill Borowsky and Councilman Mike Thulen Jr. were on hand this week for the start of the project.

According to Mayor Sabosik, “The Dorsett Dock Bulkhead has been in disrepair for a number years.”  Council President DePaola went on to say, “This has been a popular spot for fishing and crabbing for generations and it is a shame it fell into such disrepair after it was damaged by Superstorm Sandy.  It became a big safety concern.”

At a recent council meeting, capital money was budgeted003 to complete the project which was awarded to Albert Marine Construction, Inc. According to Councilman Borowsky, “A new vinyl bulk head will replace the old wooden one and there will be restoration to the surface area including new stones and paving.  There will also be an area on the left to launch kayaks and canoes. Our goal is to make this area both enjoyable and safe to our residents who have been using it for years.”

When asked about the time frame for project completion, Councilman Thulen stated, “That while work has begun this week, the job itself could take approximately 45 days to complete, but if the weather cooperates, this could be done in a matter of just a few short weeks.  This project has been a long time coming and we are excited to get it done for the residents of Point Pleasant.”
