Borough of Point Pleasant – As of 10AM on August 5th 2020, approximately 3,370 homes in Point Pleasant Borough still remain without power due to Hurricane Isaias passing through yesterday.  I have been on the phone throughout the night with representatives from Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) and they are relaying to me that the issue is that two main transmission lines went down and that they are currently repairing them with crews from multiple States that have come to New Jersey to assist.  They have indicated to me that this could take some time though.  These lines also feed Point Pleasant Beach and Brick Township who are also experiencing significant power outages as of this morning.  Additionally, Verizon poles in town have also been damaged and they are taking a bit longer to repair those.

Once these transmission lines are repaired, the majority of town should come back online.  When I have more specific information, I will certainly relay that information here to keep our residents informed.  I will also be participating in a conference call with Ocean County Mayors and the President of JCP&L later this morning and hopefully will have more information to report.

To report any downed wires that have not already been addressed, you can call the non-emergency Police Department number at 732-892-0060.  If you would like to call JCP&L for updates, you may call 888-544-4877 for additional information.  Please take note that the JCP&L phone lines may be overwhelmed at the moment though.

The Borough Council and I would like to thank all the residents of Point Pleasant Borough for your patience and understanding, thank you for making The Boro such a special place to live.
